Culture and history - preserving historical facts
In 1991, the Costa Azul area was identified as a location with archealogical evidence.

Energía Costa Azul commissioned the Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) to design and execute an Archeological plan for the Costa Azul area.

First Phase:
Archeologists conducted an initial site assessment and survey.

Second Phase:
The archeological evidence found on the site was rescued and catalogued.

INAH uses the collected information to further investigate ancient inhabitants of the region.

Third Phase:
During construction, INAH supervised excavation and preparation activities.

Excavation work was temporarily stopped when artifacts were found and resumed when INAH determined that construction could proceed.
