Rescue and relocation of marine organisms
The impacted zone during the construction phase of the project was defined in order to protect various marine organisms.
The species within the defined impact zone were rescued and relocated.
The rescue and relocation process included partnering with local Manchuria fishermen and scientists from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) to study and monitor the program.
Species were successfully transplanted under the supervision of the UABC scientists.
Over 700,000 sea urchins, sea cucumbers and sea snails were rescued and relocated from the impacted area to adjacent banks, where they can continue to live and reproduce.
