About LNG community safety & Environment About us News

Safety is a top priority at Energia Costa Azul. We built this LNG terminal to meet or exceed all Mexican and international safety requirements. Mexico standards are similar to those in the United States and, in some areas, are even more stringent.

LNG has a long and excellent safety record – it has been safely delivered across the ocean for over 45 years. During that time, LNG ships have made more than 40,000 safe voyages covering nearly 100 million miles. More than 150 ships around the world deliver about 25 billion cubic feet of LNG per day. All natural gas consumed in Japan and Korea is delivered in this form, while countries like France and Spain are also large consumers of LNG. LNG has a safety record that is even better than that of refineries and petrochemical plants. The potential hazards are well understood, and measures to preclude them have been internationally deployed. A significant amount of research has gone into minimizing safety risks. Energia Costa Azul combined the most stringent standards and leading edge precautions to prevent any potential incident.
